caveats
(tw; self harm)
the first time i met my occupational therapist - the first thing she did was ask why i had no self harm scars anywhere (i was wearing a short sleeved shirt). she pointed at my hand asking if the small scar was a product of my addiction. that was the moment i knew that therapy wouldn't help me - well at least therapy in this country.
it baffles me how many loopholes there are in understanding mental health amongst the public. this isn't a new story or idea, its been said thousands of times. yet, people still don't understand or just don't want to understand why mental health truly matters.
its funny. everyone agrees that mental health matters but no one bothers to show it.
support was never meant to be performative - now you only care about mental health if it was your friend, or family member but not the girl in your class who you hate? wow real advocate
yet, as much as i hate the caveats in supporting mental health - there is almost nothing people can do about it. the worst thing is that everyone is so engrossed in their own lives to the point where any idea outside of them or whatever relates to them is simply irrelevant.
no amount of NGOs or instagram posts or passion projects will ever solve that issue.
