Now you see me
Emerson wrote, “It is a great terror to be known.”
We are terribly scared of the only thing that we want the most. Mostly because we don’t know what looking within is like. Most of us forget ourselves. Most of us never remember to walk to ourselves.
We are enormously afraid of knowing our own self. Its easier to never have to look yourself in the eye and accept what you have done to yourself. Its easier to drift somewhere, where no one cares to see how broken your inside is.
It is a terror. Because we assume that once we are known, we become unlovable. We assume that love only belongs to those hands which have never been tainted by blood. But tell me, is there anyone who isn’t so beautifully torn?
I am brutally scared of my own self.
Enough — is a heavy word. Sits at the back of my throat, choking me to abyss.
Abyss — reminds me of home. A place where I am no more my own torment.
Torment — wanting you to want me.
