It's better to understand than to be understood.
The only thing that bores me more than my opinion is yours.
I haven't heard a new take or a hot take in more than 20 years. Most of my takes are bargain basement off the shelf opinions that I hold true -- I think? -- not because I believe them but because of some delusional image I have of myself. I am not the only one who does this.
What I have found is that everyone has a story. And more often that not that story is genuinely interesting. People are not boring. Why do I believe what I believe? That's unique. I want to know what you believe and what is different. That's the joy of conversing.
If I come at you looking for a differing opinion that needs to be changed, I will find one. And then I can get my panties in a knot trying to convince you that you need to believe what I believe. After all, the mere existence of a differing opinion is an existential threat to my ego.
But if I come at you accepting the joy of the different, the unique, the individual, the journey that got you from somewhere to the here and the now... well, then, we got a stew going.
When spiritually centered, I try to never miss a chance to discover someone new or something new about someone I know. Inevitably when I am earnestly seeking to understand you, I learn something new about myself. And that is infinitely more rewarding than trying to win a pointless argument.
This is the first post. I don't know if I will ever use Nicheless again, but it was a fun experience. Three hundred words? Okay.
