Cold emails
I tried my hand at cold emailing for the first time in November last year. I was greatly inspired by Shatakashi, GGI and her noble cause to provide quality Business and Policy education to young adults.
I reached out to her mentioning how her content on LinkedIn helped me gain a lot of perspective and expressed my interest in working with her and GGI.
I wasn't expecting any response so I stopped tracking my inbox after a few days. It was after the New Year that I re-read that email. To my surprise, Shatakshi had responded with a Google Meet invite for an interview.
As soon as I booked a slot, I started preparing for it. The opportunity to talk to Shatakashi herself felt quite far-fetched and getting to give an interview boosted my confidence. I was able to clear the first round. The GGI team promptly reached out to me to schedule my next interview, which was solving a case.
Although I couldn't clear the case interview (it was my first case interview), I was really proud that I was able to take a step towards something that I was enthusiastic about.
This story is not to brag about my achievements or put myself down for failing. Rather, it is to show that we all can do something that interests us, without attaching ourselves to the outcome. It all comes down to the courage of showing up.
I look forward to more stories like this in the coming months.
I would also like to thank Shatakashi and GGI team for taking the time out for the interview process. It has helped me write more such emails and be open to feedback.
