Your Habits Need Materials and Tools that Inspire You
Are you struggling with a habit? Look at your materials and tools.
Your materials and tools can inspire you to show up every day. Showing up every day makes a habit.
This idea works. I first noticed this with my husband's hobby.
My husband is a stereo fanatic. We don't have the same tastes in music. As he perfected his system, he became more willing to play music we both liked - and surprise me with my favorites.
He wants to use the system and share it. Tools and materials make a difference.
I’m the same about journaling. The notebooks, the pens. I look forward to using them daily. I’m always experimenting and looking for the next ones to try. I’m not sure I’ll ever settle on one.
I already had a journaling habit, but what about exercise?
Shoes for walking, clothing appropriate for the weather, a thicker floor mat for pilates, have made a difference in my exercise habits.
Your tools and materials don't even have to be expensive. They need to inspire you to use them.
