What we consistently choose to consume changes the way we think
It happens so often. It’s not a coincidence.
What I free-write in my journal predicts what I will experience or read about later in the day. This happens to me at least once a week.
Your thoughts are reflected and reinforced by your experiences. It cycles back around so your experiences reflect and reinforce your thoughts.
It’s raining today, but I’m prepared to take a walk.
I wrote about this in my journal. I dressed this morning just as I always do. Wearing my walking shoes changes my perspective from 'it’s raining, I can’t walk' to 'I’m ready to take a walk when the rain slacks up.' I love my daily walks.
After I journaled about walking, I read today’s entry of The Daily Stoic.
We should take wandering outdoor walks, so that the mind might be nourished and refreshed by the open air and deep breathing. -Seneca
It is not a coincidence that I wrote about an element of a Stoic principle, and then I read about the same principle. I’ve been reading about Stoicism for over a year. I read The Daily Stoic each morning as part of my routine.
My mindset has changed with what I consume consistently.
In this example, it’s the principles of Stoicism.
