what if ADHD isn't real?
when you're in the jungle -- or any type of "wilderness" -- it is of obviously survival benefit to take note of the little noises and sights in your environment. the jungle is NEVER boring because you always have to pay attention and there are many things to pay attention to
after being in the jungle, "regular life" doesn't feel stimulating enough (and that's me living on a boat, having to always pay attention to wind and rain)
what if that "meditative" feeling you get in the jungle is really just your brain actually having some stimulation to latch onto for once? same with diving or doing anything where you need to pay attention.
what if the fact is, in our modern life, we have sanitized the conditions of living so much that we could walk on the street staring at our phones and nothing bad will happen so that there is nothing so urgent that we have to pay attention to anymore, and our attention is going AWOL grasping for any point of interest?
aka what if our lives are just genuinely boring?
i was reading about how reading changes the brain. i'm not really sure how a reading brain is different from a non-reading brain but what if a reading brain just teaches you to train your focus? like you learn to pay an unnatural amount of focus on something and you learn to sustain that focus
it's the medicine required for the unnatural living that is modern life

i hope my theme doesn't just end up becoming me preaching all the time. once i figure out my best plan of action, i plan to live the best life i can possibly live and i don't want to whine anymore.
