What does a writer do after proving consistency?
When I started my writing journey, consistency was the goal.
With consistency, practice is inevitable. What are you practicing?
I consider these three elements:
The basics - My process, the headline, and the outline are my basics. I need those before I can produce a quality piece of writing. If I'm not careful, I begin to go through the motions, without much thought. The basics are the first to suffer.
The quality of the writing - Is it worth the read? A clearly written, carefully edited piece marks quality. I want anyone to read and understand what I write.
The benefit to the reader - I want to keep and grow my audience. The basics and quality writing certainly play a part. The topic needs to appeal to my audience. Feedback is essential. Experimentation is a must.
My writing journey has had ups and downs. I’m far from being the writer I want to be. I need to pay attention to what I'm practicing.
Practicing all three elements is part of the journey.
