Trivial Pursuit
A trivial pursuit.
Do you know why?
Because it doesn't matter.
Dates, names, elements, places, books, movies.
They don't really matter.
What matters are the ideas, trends, actions, systems that they create and perpetuate.
It doesn't matter what the leader's name is, what matters is what they did and why.
It doesn't matter who discovered what element or where they thought of that principle, what matters is what we do with it and how it helps us command a better understanding of nature.
It doesn't matter who wrote that book or where it ended up on the best sellers list; what matters is the idea and feeling that it creates in people that drives them to be better or worse to their fellow humans.
It doesn't matter what the river is called or which mountain is higher; what matters is the ecosystem and how it supports or threatens the life that chooses to be around it.
It doesn't matter who won that championship in that arena, in fact these matter the least, but I suppose if you're to find meaning, it's the shared experience of that community feeling pride in their hometown and finding common ground with each other to start building meaningful relationships.
It doesn't matter who was in that show, how many awards it won, where it was produced; what matters is what the show says about its time and the feelings it gave its audience; how it gave something people to think about, how it made them feel less alone.
