Avoid sophistication that diminishes your enjoyment.
I think this is such a good outlook and it's something to catch yourself on. A specific example.
I went to see The Batman a few months ago and I've had lots of people ask me what I thought about it. I said that I thought it was good, but I said that I had seen it before. Corrupt cops, a mob that runs the city, good people getting dragged into that world and doing things that they're not proud of or having to make compromises. The Riddler was basically doing Joker stuff; brooding, being unpredictable, taking action against Gotham's corrupt system, general psychopathic things that we all saw in The Dark Knight. I said that it was the best detective Batman I had ever seen in a major motion picture and I liked the way it was made and how everyone was cast, but I had seen it before. I wished that they had done something new, something more fresh with a new Batman.
That's an okay thing to think and acknowledge, but who is that opinion for? It's a good movie. Why are you shit talking it like that? Why are you looking for fault in it? There was nothing obviously wrong with the plot or the writing or the performances of any of the actors; those things were all excellent. Why are you picking the sophistication that comes from having seen every batman movie, animated show, video game, comic book, etc. and choosing to see the repetition of a thing that you love as a thing that diminishes your enjoyment of the movie?
Are you trying to impress people by having something unique to say about it? Just be happy man. This movie is good. Why did you choose to complain about it. Nobody likes that.
