travel the world
after going to indonesia, my appetite for experiencing the world has been awakened, for the first time
(before this trip, i was excited to talk to people from different places, but didn't necessarily see the point in actually /going/ anywhere...and despite that, i had somehow visited 20 countries so everyone in my life assumed i loooooved traveling)
the thing is, though, i don't when i can actually go to the next place (just because we're kind of tied to this boat we live on...a boat is a demanding mistress or a newborn baby...it is high maintenance and unforgiving of any negligence)
(my top picks for this sailing season in terms of "possibly feasible places" are tunisia, albania and turkey but we need to discuss whether or not we are actually going to these places...some logistical concerns make these places not SO feasible; my top picks for the world are the -stan countries -- just because i don't know anything about them and don't know anyone who has gone there so they're a great unknown, mongolia for a big 10-20 day horse trek, and parts of indonesia that i haven't yet seen such as papua)
but i have a really great idea.
there are 195 countries in this world (a small number so small i'm skeptical, to be honest, given that it would mean i've now been to 10.79% of countries; yet i feel i haven't seen much in this world until this very recent trip)
and i've read ~120 books last year...so...
i could "read around the world" in about 2-3 years (or longer)
i've now started on indonesian literature and it describes the indonesia i experienced very well...
i think that by reading around the world, i'll discover new perspectives and pique my interests on new places to visit.
