Start Small To Ensure Success With Your New Journaling Habit
Doesn't it feel good to check off a task, meet a goal, or get to your destination?
That feeling is equal for small or large steps.
For your new journaling habit, you need to start small.
A small start means it's doable, less intimidating. It takes less time and fits into your schedule. You still see results.
When developing a habit, success keeps you going.
I’ve written how my journaling habit started small with three daily gratitude sentences.
Three sentences of gratitude a day leads to checking off the task. It feels so good to check it off.
There are other ways you can start small.
Buy a small journal. Small can be the width and height of the journal or the number of pages. You only need a 30-page journal to write for 30 days. A small journal looks easier to fill than a large journal.
If you write in your small journal for 30 days, you’re on your way to a habit.
If you don’t make it to 30 (which you will) the disappointment of having a few blank pages is much less than having 160 pages left. The more blank pages left, the more likely you will feel discouraged. We don’t want that.
Having a few pages left will make you feel like you can do it. If you have off days, just pick up your pen and try again.
Start small to set yourself up for success in your new journaling habit.
