Possibilities Sound Hopeful, Unused Possibilities Become Clutter
My realization started with undershirts and socks.
I have many possibilities. In fact, I find them everywhere.
Some undershirts were old and worn. Others sat neglected. Why did I have them? Toss! Then I tackled my socks. I discovered over the years I had been hoarding socks. Why?
This is where the mindset of possibilities became my downfall. Those three pairs of brown socks possibly match my one pair of brown pants. One sounds like enough. Why twenty pairs of sport socks? There are seven days in a week.
I looked around my closet.
I had a closet cluttered with possibilities. When I lose five pounds. When I need to dress for a special occasion. When I mend this. The only thing I didn’t have was an ugly Christmas sweater.
To my horror, this clutter of possibilities extends to all areas of my house.
The clutter of possibilities is even hidden deep in my idea collection system for writing. Ideas no longer making sense to me are in plain sight if I open the folder on my computer.
Possibilities turned to clutter.
Having less gives you the opportunity to appreciate what do have. You can find what you want. You can interact with it. Why keep things and ideas I have no plans for?
What clutter of possibilities do you have?
