people i kind of look down on but don't want to
- a girl who i talk to who is doing her best to be nice to me and listen to me
- a boy who i talk to who is doing her best to be nice to me and listen to me
it's like they're kinda trying to be
- deep
- interesting
- thoughtful
but they lack that quintessential thing.
what is that quintessential thing? it sounds a bit pretentious but i think it's a highly functional mind attuned to abstraction and ideas themselves rather than the sound of the words commonly used to talk about the ideas
they exist on a level of platitude understanding where they are not fully able to engage in meaningful discussion because their brains are not fully wired to think about meaningful things but they have been properly set up to say the right things and follow the trends of thought
for example, now, mindfulness is really in vogue. so they talk about that. they use the keywords. they almost sound like they get it, but they're in essence no different than chatgpt, trying to piece together a cohesive sentence using words they've learned.
they cannot break through that level to reach a new level of understanding. and they sure as hell can't produce a new thought.
how condescending of me to say this!
and yet it is true.
people like this exist.
in masses. actually.
but the thing is they are both very nurturing warm types and i am sorry to view their intelligence this way. then again, it is also presumptive to say that intellectuality is at all important. it is not. it is a very pointless blithe privileged thing.
