Law of Reversed Effort
The harder you try, the farther it goes.
I've noticed every time I try to coddle or pet my cat, she runs away. The more I try, the farther she runs.
She's a cat. I know.
But...when I ignore her, she comes asking for pets.
The law of reversed effort says when we chase something or someone, it moves away from us. But when we leave it alone, it comes to us. Which goes completely against the concept ot non-stop hustling and being a workaholic.
Side note: I've always found hustlers and workaholics unpleasant. Work can't be the only thing in your life. And if it is, then I wonder what are you running away from?
Back to the law... General theory states the harder you work, the more your chances of success. And while that may be true for some, it isn't for me.
I tried really hard to build my freelance side hustle. The more I tried, the more clients I lost.
I tried really hard to build my romantic relationship. It didn't last.
I understand there are various factors involved here but I do find the idea of "letting it be" comforting.
My understanding of the Law of Attraction is minimum but here's what I know. Set an intention, take conscious action, and then let the universe do its magic. And I believe it fits well with the law of reversed effort. Just add another step - let it be.
Even though it’s true that achieving goals often requires work, at some point you have to let it go. Give it time and space to breathe so it can come back to you.
What a comforting thought.
