Goals
It is difficult to think where you’ll be at any point in the future. Things don’t always go to plan. So, what is the point of setting goals?
On our default path (ie. 9 to 5 job - thanks Paul Millerd) we are asked to make targets or objectives relative to what we know today. What we think we’ll want to tomorrow. But we are not taught to think about tomorrow today. Just aim for it.
We are asked to think about what we want to achieve and then set goals towards that. The problem is, this is like setting goals to set goals.
I believe the time tested conditional programming statement of IF…THEN…ELSE should be encouraged. Think of scenarios. What is they come to be? What if they don’t? What then? IF. THEN. ELSE.
Goals. Targets. Milestones. If ever there was a box-ticking exercise…
