Deciding between projects
Having had a long period where I had no energy or interest in tinkering with any side-projects, the energy now seems to return. Perhaps it is a reflection of a better state of mind. Perhaps it is a reflection of winter in the Northern hemisphere and hence less daylight, but nevertheless the fact remains that I have some extra energy for side-projects.
As a lot of programmers and entrepreneurial spirits usually have I also keep a list of potential projects that I can bring forward and look at whenever the want arises.
But how to decide?
Having had a long period with no interest in any side-projects my first inclination was to select a project that I could finish somewhat quickly.
I have had this idea for a long time of basically building a page "on top of" Soundcloud. As I have no real way of using and finding the exact types of music that I want on the webpage itself. Hence I wanted to build a page using the Soundcloud API to have a version that would make it easier for me to find the music that I want on Soundcloud.
Unfortunately I just found out that Soundcloud have closed down the ability to register new applications for their API - so for now that idea is dead.
Next I have two quite different ideas.
One idea/project is again to ease my personal use of the internet. Help me with something I do a lot and I think there may be a business case in.
The other is a lot more far-reaching but also more complicated. There are no easy wins and no clear way to monetize it. But it could potentially reach a lot of the internet if properly executed.
What to do?
