Culture in Companies
I have worked at a dozen companies and every company has its own culture. By the way you may wonder how does a company have it's own culture.
Culture is all about how people treat one another i.e. how do peers interact, how do superiors interact with their subordinates and the list goes on. If you take a company which is large and established, it will have it's own culture where a new person either adapts to it or shall perish feeling suffocated. So it becomes important for people around to make the person feel comfortable, valued, appreciative of efforts and trusting him/her about their work being done.
Unlike the above organizations or companies where there is lot of scrutiny about work and there is micro management from the top management, such places give a loud sound of hopelessness. These companies shall always have a healthy inflow and outflow of people, and the culture is never established there by making it a toxic place. Another thing is even though the team bonds we'll and is happy, if any one bad fish comes in, everything gets changed and people will move out at the earliest possible time.
It feels sad that never such things are discussed or talked about. They are always taken for granted and that makes an employee ready to leave. Even though such companies may feature in best places to work, but the major reason to leave the company is always a bad work culture and a bad boss. Salaries can always be a reason but never the primary reason.
If you are a person who is handling a team, I would say make them feel comfortable wanted and cared for. As the saying goes, Take care of your employees, they inturn will take care of your business.
