Champagne evenings in Bangalore
When all the memes of Bangalore weather have been read, the one which is difficult to drag on for too long is the one about Bangalore's weather.
When it's a pleasant 24 / 25 degrees centigrade, a gentle breeze and at 5 pm, one sees the first glimpse of the sun which will set a little past 6 pm, Bangalore can be paradise. Thus, it takes very little effort to round up a few like minded girl friends, pour some bubbly and gather around our community table and talk for hours.
Bonus points if it is a Sunday evening. The conversation just flows. As easily as the champagne.
It is difficult to pin it down to the presence of alcohol, which acts as a social lubricant. It could very well be that the same dialogue could happen over cups of earl grey tea.
Those of us who spent the better part of our 30s and 40s, neck deep in parenting, discovering and re-discovering many of our pre-parent era days is in itself a thrill!
As women, when we meet, our conversations veer into a combination of rants, venting, genuine interest in the other person or quite simply shooting the breeze. A couple of hours later, the feeling that I have always walked way with has been nothing short of subliminal bliss.
Our wiring, our way of thinking. The unique challenges of our periods and all the hiccups we face when the periods stop.
That topic of menopause is indeed for another day, so I won't digress.
Instead, as I write this, I may start writing about the series of champagne and bubbly evenings in Bangalore. The ones I have hosted and curated or the ones that I have been invited to over the years.
