Building a Journaling Habit Requires the Right Tools
Building a new habit requires the right tools.
Building a journaling habit is no exception.
Luckily, the tools needed for journaling are easy to come by.
Decide on your preferred method of writing. Is it digital or analog?
If you prefer digital, choose a platform and stick with it. Possibilities include:
Day One (app)
Notion
Google Docs
Evernote
If you already use a platform not mentioned above, stick to it. Don’t complicate things by choosing something new. If my preference were digital, I would choose Google Docs or Workflowy. I use them the most for writing.
Maybe you prefer analog like I do. Pen(cil) and paper are easy to come by.
Any notebook will do. I recommend a small one so you're not overwhelmed with the page size as you start your new habit.
Use a favorite pen to keep with your journal.
The writing platform you choose should inspire you to journal daily.
Finding the right tools to fit your new journaling habit may take experimentation. Try one for two weeks. If you're still on the fence, try the other.
Your journaling tools don’t matter. Journaling consistently does.
