As Your Daily Journaling Habit Grows, So Grows The Benefits From Your Journaling
It was like running downhill.
The plan was to be slow and steady. I found myself picking up momentum the further I ran.
Or, in my case, the more I journaled.
I thought journaling gratitude would be enough to carry me for the rest of my days. But I talked to other journalists. I read about journaling.
What benefits would more journaling bring me?
First, it was writing my personal values. I wanted to keep them in mind as I went through the day.
Next came morning questions of anticipation. What was I dreading? What was I looking forward to?
This exploration of journaling techniques showed me the possibilities.
Morning pages convinced me to write more than gratitude, more than answers. They convinced me to let my thoughts flow onto the page.
Working through emotions, problems I was facing, and discovering my dreams are a few of the results of morning pages. I needed writing to process and analyze the rough spots in my day and plan my next steps.
I needed journaling to celebrate my wins, no matter how small, and plan my next steps.
I was sold on journaling.
I’ve learned to end my day by reflecting in my journal. In addition to mulling over the negative, I always end with the positive. Positivity breeds positivity.
There’s one question I can’t answer through journaling.
Why did I take so long to build a journaling habit?
