A-Players don't get laid off
You should be default skeptical of all job-seekers who have been laid off. This is the harsh reality of how headcount reductions are done.
Here’s why👇
- Most companies have around 60% A-Player coverage.
- High performers have never been more important. Companies need to
achieve more with less. Less capital, less people, less spend from
customers.
Of course, there are always exceptions and this will be some of the best talent on the market right now!
Here are 4 things to look for that almost all A-players have in common:
- Self-awareness - mention skill gaps and development areas
- Career trajectory - consistently taking on larger roles with more
responsibility - Pull - have had friends, mentors & previous managers “pull” them
into more exciting opportunities - Vision - they know where they want to be, when they want to get
there & why(this will be relative to experience, more junior job
hunters may have less clarity on this & that’s ok!)
There’s been over 130,000 laid off workers this year. Identifying the right talent is a huge advantage.
