3 Reasons New (or Seasoned)Journalers Should Change Their Journaling Routine
Same time. Same place.
When you’re new to journaling, routine is important. The consistency of routine will create the habit.
When I started journaling, I followed the same routine for 13 months. Every day I wrote gratitude as soon as I walked into the kitchen to start my day.
It worked for me. I still prefer journaling in the morning.
There are reasons for a change to your routine.
Preference. I always advise others to write first thing in the morning. Your preference to write another time may make your habit more likely to develop.
Experimentation. I experiment with my journaling routine. I’ve tried question prompts, some I stick to, like free journaling. Others I abandon, like writing what I look forward to every day.
Life. You know it. Life happens - sometimes unexpected and sometimes planned. Just yesterday, I volunteered at my granddaughter’s school for field day. I completed gratitude and left the rest for later in the day.
You must journal consistently to make it a habit. To be consistent, your journaling habit needs to suit you.
Don’t be afraid to change your routine as you look for the perfect fit.
