The status of the iPhone Duo

The iPhone Duo is going to sell like hotcakes in India.

Not because it is a good phone, but because it will be the status symbol of 2026-2027, and India is a status driven society.

In India, the iPhone Duo is about 50% more expensive than it is in the US, which means its status signaling power is also 50% higher. Combine that with the fact that India's population is much larger (which means there is a larger status gain to be enjoyed from this purchase) and the iPhone Duo is positioned to absolutely slay. Especially in Delhi.

Last year, the Orange iPhone 17Pro Max was India's status symbol of choice. It served a dual purpose. Go figure.

This year, my bet is that the Duo will outsell the 18 Pro Max, even though it isn't available in Orange. Go figure.
