The rhythm of an ordinary day
My day feels more like wake up, exist, sleep and wake up again! During the day, looking at emails as I wake up, commuting to and back work, working and handling calls till I sleep off, limited socialization with family and friends, zero leisure activity other than TV. Even on weekends, I think the familiarity of the drudgery lures me back to the laptop and emails, perhaps an easy dopamine fix. There are only 2 escapes, my daily reading and podcasts - which is currently not enough to inject inspiration.
2 ways to change the life for better
- An hour off : Actively taking 1 hour off everyday to do diverse activities whether improving on a skill or life quality. I can mix it up between solitary activities and socializing activities. E.g. learning a instrument or building a lego as a solo leisure and then playing Padel or joining a hobby club for socializing.
- The other approach to addressing this is keep a monthly project with specific goals, with daily and weekly target. It could be a process or a outcome goal. It could be life improving or a pleasure giving goal. For instance, it could be about listening to songs of Bob Dylan and making a goal to learn something new. It could be experimenting with a recipe on a daily basis. It is about doing something on a daily basis and changing the scenary once that goal is achieved.
I need to figure out how to make this happen; what needs to change to help me acheive this; is it AI, prioritization. Instead mulling too much on it, I should just dive in and take time off and see how the world reacts to me pressing the pause button once!
