the concept of work
The prevailing cultural norm views work as a necessary evil - something to endure from Monday to Friday and escape from on weekends. In contrast, I perceive work differently. For me, work is engaging and fulfilling; it isn't a switch to turn off at 5 PM or on weekends. Yes, I have to push myself sometimes, and no, I don't always feel like working or have fun doing it. Nevertheless, it fulfills me.
This difference often places me at odds with societal expectations, where prioritizing work over leisure can seem abnormal or even unhealthy. Sometimes, I feel out of place for wanting to work rather than engage in typical leisure activities.
Neither perspective is inherently right or wrong. Sometimes, I even feel jealous of those with a simpler, more carefree approach to work.
But ultimately, I am thankful to be in the privileged position of doing work that, for the most part, fulfills me.
