Rest
I know you’re tired.
We all suffer from daily fatigue.
From running the kids to school and sports practice to waking up early or traveling during our day off.
It feels like everyone is walking on eggshells.
We all are stressed.
The English Standard Version of the bible likes to call it heavy-laden.
An odd term I must admit, but let’s challenge ourselves to see what is actually making us stressed.
Are we stressed because we have a lot on our plate today or this week?
That type of stress is temporary.
Or are we “heavy laden” and can’t seem to shake the overwhelming burden of daily life?
Are we even stressed in our daily walk with God?
If so, we can approach our relationship with God in a different way.
Walking with God is simple but necessarily easy.
It can be difficult, but should never be stressful.
The unhealthy stress that we feel is self-inflicted.
We place this kind of stress on ourselves.
Here is my invitation.
Give yourself permission to seek rest.
If we reach out to God like the fiend that he is, he will listen to our problems as well as any counselor. (I do recommend mental health counseling as well btw).
I invite you to place your burdens on him and he will give you peace and rest.
Walking with God may not be easy, and at times can be frustrating, but it shouldn’t be back-breaking labor.
If we feel something is off balance, let’s check in with the one who invites us to rely on him for rest.
Matthew 11:28
Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
