(re)doing the online presence thing again!
i've apparently made it a quasi-tradition to start editing a new site or writing a new blog post (or if i'm feeling super ambitious, both!) right on the new year. two years ago it was substack, last year it was buttondown, and now it's omg.lol (and here too, i suppose). last night i entered the new year alone (with my pup) in my apartment on the web editor of omg.lol, rediscovering the joy of making a static, html-only website in full gaudy, garish 2000s flair. i went down a rabbit hole of glitter gifs and dafont.com. i learned about inline blocks and z-indexing and webkit animations. i was suddenly 10 years old on neopets again and having the time of my life.
i think omg.lol's gonna be the one that sticks, or at least it's on track to hold my attention the longest so far. a custom site and blogging platform with email forwarding all rolled into one very unserious url is exactly the kind of thing i want as my "official" online representation, so i think the ultimate goal now is to perfect my webpage and maaaybe start posting semi-regularly. when that happens, i'll have to figure out what i wanna put there vs. here and whether i should just drop being here to consolidate being over there. i do at some point wanna put it on my resume for shits and giggles though, so i'll have to reel in my full unhinged self for another platform (here?). twitter truly did fill a void and i gave it a good run for ~3-4 years, but deactivating my account felt like finally releasing a huge, heavy breath. sooo maybe this is where i'll be insane! yeah!!!!
