FOOTBALL-the Legend

Hello Folks,

Today I write about the story of football and its significance in our history & the impact the sport has had around the world. As I Write this, one of the greatest players to ever walk on the field is probably playing his-LAST DANCE match. (More on that!)

Football is probably the most democratic sport, it allows everyone to partake and asks for so little, just a small patch of land & ball. It is a sport that is being played in variations for 1000s of years. It has transcended continents, civilizations, cultures, and lost dynasties. The sport has persisted and stood the test of time.

Episkyros in Greece, Ts'in in China, Kemari in Japan, Harpastum in Rome, and Tlachtli to the Aztecs, the game has had many names. The game became famous in England as early as the 12th century. This history lesson is too vast for 300 words and much has been said by abler men then me.

I want to talk about the impact of the game. There are very few things in the world that take so little but capture the collective fascination of human like football. It is an inclusive game, there are no physical requirements for playing football you don’t need to be in this kind of god-like physical shape to play football.

The game is beloved by more than half the world's population is rightly dubbed 'the people's game'. From battlefields to rural fields; from crowded arenas to living rooms the game has lived.
