A train of thoughts on studying.
People study for many different reasons, be that exams, getting a new job, or getting into a university. However, what we often miss is the end goal, the big picture, if you will. If we do not keep that in mind, then studying becomes meaningless and spirals into an unhealthy aspect of your life.
But first, what is the big picture? I don't mean getting into a university or passing the exam. These are just steps in the same process that also includes studying. Why are we studying, sitting exams, going to university? Although cliché, everyone has their own reasons. And that may change throughout your life. And that's okay. For many it means improving your standard of living, helping people, finding meaning in life. These are all reasons people may have, no matter how material they are. Even studying so you can buy a new car is a valid reason (albeit not the best, but that's a different topic altogether).
Not having a reason is also fine. Letting life lead you wherever it takes you is also common amongst people. However, making an A on your paper the end goal can be difficult for the best people in the long term. By setting short-term goals, which have a set path you can limit yourself seriously.
Look, all I wanted to say is keep the end goal in sight. I would like to finish with a quote:
"without a goal, you cannot score" - Casey Neistat.
Please take this with a grain of salt. All thoughts are mine from a Tuesday Afternoon of mindless studying, after which I am currently trying to regain some meaning to the exams.
