ThirdPlaces
I'm creating a new site called ThirdPlaces. Every weekend I spend so much time looking for things to do, whether thats using TimeOut, Londonist, ChatGPT, Google Maps or Reddit. I want something which:
- Saves time
- Helps me find new places each time I visit the site
- I love and enjoy using
Ultimately as more tasks get automated away, as a society, we should start put greater prioritisation on leisure. Yet every time I am out with friends, we struggle to know where to go or always default to the same local, despite quietly desiring a new adventure. There is a clear gap here which also coincides with increasing automation, modern social media, and development in AI, allowing for a breakthrough to be made.
I named it ThirdPlaces after Oldenburg's theory. Your first place is your home, your second place is your workplace, and your third place is where you define yourself, engage with society, and establish feelings of sense of place.
ThirdPlaces mission will be:
Improving peoples' quality of life by helping them find better ThirdPlaces via a magical experience.
This is completely different to everything currently out there. It will be personalised to each user. It will leverage AI to provide the best recommendations. It will be curated. It will be social and community driven. It will be well thought out, beautiful and magical to use.
It can be monetised either via an add-free premium subscription, providing more features, or partnerships with ThirdPlaces to receive commission or provide additional features or data. Since the core product is recommendation, I'd like to avoid pay-for-reach system.
