shipping consistently is crazy tough
i've started many projects over the last two years. but guess how many i've completed?
zero.
that got me thinking, why is it tough to stick to things that i like?
what is stopping me from having fun?
why am i expecting something in return, when i just wanna build cool shit?
i guess part of the reason is, i need someone to pat my back and say 'well done, jahnavi' whenever i make something.
this is very sad, at least to me, cuz this means i'm incapable of building stuff just for the heck of it.
i anticipate that people would see it and go 'damn, this is some next level shit'.
maybe this is not a bad motivation to get started with working on an idea, but tbh it probably shouldn’t be the only motivation. i should be able to have fun and hustle at the same time.
so i decided to make a deal with myself. as soon as i get an idea, no matter how dumb it is, i will implement at least a few components of it within ONE HOUR of coming up with it.
i know this may be an overkill, cuz what if i come up with something that is insanely tough to implement and may involve stuff i've never tried out?
all the more reason to give it a shot in that case 🤪
let's take this article as an example. i have been trying to start writing online for the last 6 months. i made a plan and wrote down a timeline to implement it, but when it came to doing the work and start writing, i obviously gave up.
but today, i told myself, 'this ain't gonna work anymore macha, you just gotta start'.
and i did ✨
