refinement
What is the goal of a human life?
We are on this planet for 100 years at best and of those 100 years a part at the beginning and a part at the end will not be productive.
So we only have limited time available to us.
Within this limited time we build structures and systems in place to create, build and live on this planet. Not everyone has the same opportunities and ambitions, so the systems we design are a reflection of the ideas we form within the time we have available to us.
No system is defined perfectly. So it seems to be a deeply human endeavour to adapt the systems we create and refine them.
I don't know if this is true for everyone. But it is true for me. I don't want to ossify. I want to stay fluid and adapt. Improve the things that are working ok, so that they work well. Replace the parts that used to work and do not work anymore. Design new systems for new issues.
We should not stand idle.
Many people are idle.
We need to do more to harvest the immense force that is in us. We need to upgrade and refine the human condition.
I don't think we should create tools that make people idle more. I think machine-learned agents will only help us, if we can train us in meatspace to be ambitious with them. Just abstracting away work and meaning from people is not the way forward.
Only the future can tell. But we need to mend our ways. Otherwise, nihilism will win and we will deconstruct ourselves into oblivion. Maybe this is will be the million dollar question of the next century. What do we do, when we do not have to do anything?
