My Body’s Group Chat While Running
If my body had a group chat during a run, it would be pure chaos.
Legs: “We’re tired.”
Brain: “We literally just started.”
Lungs: “Who approved this pace?”
Heart: “Guys, chill. We’re fine.”
Stomach: “No, we’re not. That banana was a mistake!”
By kilometer two, everyone’s arguing. Legs threaten to leave the chat. Brain tries to keep everyone relax, keeps pretending this is “fun.” Meanwhile, Eyes are busy scanning for shade and any excuses to stop: a red light, a cute cat, anything.
Kilometer five is when group chat falls apart. Lungs start typing in all caps. Knees send sand emojis and some images like “pain.jpg.” Heart tries to motivate everyone with cringe quotes from Instagram. Brain starts making bad deals like: "Just reach that tree and we can walk."
Then, suddenly, silence. No one's happy, but everyone's too tired to complain. It’s quiet, but not peaceful. More like group exhaustion.
By kilometer ten, the chat comes back to life.
Feet: “Blisters reporting for duty.”
Brain: “Who signed us up for this again?”
Heart: “Don’t look at me.”
Lungs: “Still dying though.”
When I finally stop, everyone's dramatic.
Legs: “I can’t move.”
Brain: “Let’s do this again tomorrow!”
Everyone else: leaves the group chat.
