Calendly Disclaimer
TL;DR: when I am sending my Calendly link, please know my intent is to save each of us time, not some sort of presumption that my calendar is more important than yours.
Longer: I am pro-Calendly.
I realize that there has been a debate around it following a VC's rant.
I get the critique: if I send a Calendly to you, you might take that as me saying, "My schedule is busier and more important than yours, you should make plans based on my schedule."
That is not my intent!
I am pretty busy. I assume you are too. I plan a lot of meetings. I imagine you do too.
Prior to Calendly, lots of time was spent like this:
A: "We should meet! How does next week look?"
B: <clicks second tab, clicks first tab, types> "M O N D A Y 1 p m E T , 2 p m E T, T U E S D A Y 3 : 3 0 P M E T , 4 : 3 0 P M E T...", <rechecks second tab, clicks back, types...>
A: <clicks second tab, clicks first tab, types> "1 p m w o r k s"
B: <clicks second tab, creates invite, adds dial-in...>
So much manual typing and clicking between tabs. And if you are planning for multiple people and time zones, it's lots of clicking, (simple) mental math and typing.
OR
I could click a few options and have them embedded in an email. Better yet, I can share an evergreen link.
You can check you calendar (which you'd do anyway) and click the option that works for you. That's it. Done.
How is that not better? How is that not being respectful of both of our time, removing unnecessary tedium?
