critical consciousness
today my thoughts about the future of digital worlds was more of how to make them 'abstract'. my reason is because good design that aims for longevity is not one that stands out, it generally embeds itself into a way of life, a culture.
as i continue to develop ideas and critique digital worlds, having a design that balances the complexity with the general becomes more valuable. the theory Utopia of quality, utopia of quantity by Archizoom Associati from 1971 echoes ideas that are more relevant to our digital worlds now than the time it was written. it speaks of a balance between two states; general interest and individual interest, where the metropolis has no option but to accept the balance at current. the two states become realities on two planes which unfold independently yet blend into a single form. an example would be where architecture stop being natural in one reality, then nature stops being culture in the second reality.
if we take this idea of two states into our digital and physical worlds at current; we have our physical world where the technology stop thriving in one reality, then culture thrives in technology within the other reality. this abstraction is the level of consciousness our digital worlds represent...
