Brace for Impact
I had been thinking about writing this series for a long time, but I just would not manage to find the time to finally sit down and pen my thoughts. I think the procrastination was probably due to being in a constant state of extremes - either of hyper anxiety due to workload, or absolute boredom and laziness due to unexpected dry spells at work. As I sit at the airport, waiting to catch my late night flight to Bombay on a Wednesday night, I have finally decided to do what should have been done a long time back - write about the honest experiences of an associate working in corporate law firm, so that young individuals entering the profession REALLY understand what they are getting into.
In the next few posts, I will try to lay out what situations I have faced, and how I tried to deal with these situations. While I recognise that my experience may be unique to me, and not everyone may have to go through what I went, I hope this series brings an insider's perspective on what it is to work in a fast paced environment like a law firm, and hopefully allow others to be better prepared to face (or avoid) such situations.
If you are wondering why this post has been dramatically titled "Brace for Impact", I hope to justify it over the next few posts.
As the Latin phrase goes: "Res ipsa loquitur".
With utmost sincerity,
J
