Being wrong as opportunity...
In a talk, Kathy Schultz asked people how it felt to be wrong. People said it was embarrassing. But she said they answered how it feels when you realize you're wrong. Being wrong feels like being right until you know you're wrong.
This makes us think about why people want to change the world but not themselves. In school, we're praised for being right and taught that being wrong is bad. So, admitting we're wrong can be scary. But to grow and change, we need to accept our mistakes.
Einstein said to solve problems, we need to think differently. But changing how we think can be tough if we can't see our own thoughts clearly.
So, what can we do? Imagine our brain as a computer that has programs it picked up while growing up. Instead of trying to find these hidden programs, let's learn new and better ways of thinking that align us with things in better ways.
Let's not worry too much about our past crap that's hidden in our minds. Instead, let's look for great models, understand how to think, and test thinking differently. Our brain will naturally take better ways of thinking because it wants advantages.
In the end, we all can grow and change. We just need to spend time learning, leading ourselves effectively and realising an extremely crucial thing.
Outliers tend to search for where they may be wrong.
Why? Because it's the only way to learn.
