AI taking away Independent thinking
I have been reading a lot about people actively using Artificial intelligence in their day to day life and perhaps I am also experiencing the same. Within seconds, I have three perspectives with 8 examples and 4 counterarguments ready. All of it seems hunky dory and then I realise that essentially, it is taking away my brain elasticity - everything just being served on the platter with topping. Whereas thinking on a topic takes time, articulation of thoughts in a cohesive manner takes years of practice and then, an informed, synchronized and cohesive idea takes a shape. But all of it seems out of fashion, thinking means we are slow. I understand that AI is meant to make us effective but not dumb. The most gifted attribute a human being possesses is thinking and if we are devoid of that, may be we are blurring the difference between human intelligence and artificial intelligence.
Artificial intelligence is training its large language models based on the content created by humans without any help of AI. Now, even if humans write anything without any help of AI, it still flags 20-30% resemblance with AI writing when run through an AI checker. Irony, the AI used my writings to train itself and now same is contesting that my writing resemble like an AI written article,
It is like Karaoke Artists serving a cease and desist letter to Adele.
