Afternoon musings
as I write this, there is a meeting going on in the background. Someone is saying something, and others are writing. Most are pretending to listen while they browse the internet on their laptops. Meanwhile, our client on the 56-inch LED screen continues to talk about the product. This is not the first time I am seeing this, and neither is this the last. We have to be present in these in case the client has any doubts. These meetings are a part of the routine that we have established.
An activity that starts as a way to communicate our mutual needs has become a routine. It has become a way to describe productivity. If we don't do this we are somehow less productive. I don't have the wisdom of the CEO and founders. All I know is we can and should be able to channel our resources better. Week after week dreading a single weekly meeting, working towards a deadline that never seems to end is something that I never envisioned myself doing.
While I can ramble on and on, there is no shortage of useless jobs out there. People who just pass through life just to get to the weekend and have a good time. All we can do is find the right way to exit this loop or sprints as we call them in the software world. Because life also passes by in meetings where you are not living.
