A Ride in the Metro
It's one of those experiences that tell people how 'further' and 'farther' they are from the ones around them every day.
You see laborers, officegoers, businessmen, students, people from different parts of the country, from different countries, and more.
Today, I sat beside a laborer, and my financial woes suddenly seemed so stupid. Here I am deliberating whether to buy an expensive pair of sneakers, spend 200 euros on life coaching, and there's this guy who's probably thinking about getting his child through school.
I saw couples madly in love and people looking at them, craving for what they have.
I saw a blind person walking across the station, possibly trying to gauge what the area looked like from the noises around him.
I saw a young woman, going back home after a tough day at work, staring at another two young, fairly well-dressed women, possibly going out to party. There were a ton of emotions in her eyes - helplessness and definitely a desire to be in a position to exercise the same freedom someday.
There are people with huge bags traveling from in and out of the city. I wonder what adventure they're coming from or what adventure awaits them.
I can't help but remember how I was a broke student traveling on these same coaches a few years ago. Now, I'm wearing way more expensive clothes and going to a place that would've possibly costed a couple of months' worth of my expenses back then, but I'm certainly not as happy.
On the positive side, it's mind-blowing to see how far I've come. It's like going back in time and witnessing the progress you've made in all these years. Perhaps, the imposter syndrome is not real after all.
Anyway, I'm at my destination, and it's time to go.
