We are about to celebrate 75 years of Independence this week. The newspapers from past one week has started running a small column of the people of India who have witnessed the heroic moments years ago. We have successfully completed a recent family trip to Ladakh. A family trip after a long gap. So as per the itinerary, first five days were for local sight seen in Leh city, a fantastic road travel to Nubra Valley and from thereon to Pangong Lake. The trip has to be concluded at Kargil. Kargil is famous for India-Pakistan war of 1999. It is far from Leh. We had least interest for Kargil. However, our driver cum guide anyhow convinced us to be there. Located around 70 kms from Kargil city, on the way to Srinagar near Dras, a war memorial in the remembrance of our brave soldier was the destination. Humming voice of air in the environment would not let one believe that on this land the mighty war of Kargil was fought. The whole memorial was built on around 10-12 acres.
