Something that could motivate you.
There's this man on death row in California, Ronald Stanford. He's there since he was 13. Lost his childhood, his youth, and still in the prison that took everything away from him. Somehow, he still takes care of his body, of his mental state, showers, cleans up, reads and express.
On the walls of his 'room', you'd spot words like Perseverance and Strength sketched.
"Just things I'd like to focus on, I always focus on something progressive" He said.
We're not perfect, neither is Ronald Stanford. There are times when that strong man would lose his mind, cry, and sigh in despair over what he had lost. Just like us. We grieve, lose our minds in rage and pain, in loss and insecurity. That's just a part of life we have to accept.
But if a boy who hit his puberty in prison, a man who saw his 20s fly behind bars, could accept what his life have come to be and try, then so could we.
Me, a stateless. Didn't go to school, didn't experience what it's like to be around other kids. I grew up isolated. Failing at many things, like writing, like working out - Allah knows how many times I just sat on my bed and refused to do a push-up, and accepted being a loser. If you were to see me in my worst days, you would pray i never existed.
But still, I have to try. I have to wake up mornings, early or late. I have to take action. Because one day I'll wake up and I'll be 30, and that day is only 10 years away.
"What the hell did you focus on. Yes your life was bad, you had nothing, but what did you focus on?"
Let's focus on the right things.
